Sebastian Rzepa & Rudolf Fitz

The series Painter and Painter shows works from the collaboration between the two artists Rudolf Fitz and Sebastian Rzepa, who live and work in Vienna. While Fitz’s oeuvre often takes on old Viennese scenarios painted in rich detail in oils, the works of the even younger half of the duo Rzpas show very intuitive compositions with a playful approach. In the works created especially for the exhibition at KAH KITCHEN, precise color gradients are interrupted by oil pastels and figuratively charged only to be painted over again. Typography plays an important role for both artists, and not only in their independent works. Thus, the almost forgotten curlicue lettering, primarily from petit bourgeois retail, meets impulsive contemporary statements that do not take the world as we know it today quite so seriously.
