Elisabeth Hinkel

Elisabeth Hinkel is a visual artist and curator. In her artistic work she focuses mainly on analog photography and experiments with alternative printing techniques and materials between organic and inorganic. Her work focuses on the things responsible for holding our universe together and pulling it apart.

The artist says of her work, “I shoot with a Canon A-1, and by scanning the negatives myself, I avoid preset filters and get flat, unreal images that often look empty. In an almost meditative editing process, an inner space opens up to the richness hidden within. The completed images are reflections between reality, the process of imaging it with analog media, and its digital, touching approach to an inner, non-real, yet real-feeling visualization. I am fascinated by clouds that are empty and full, heavy and light, here and gone. They are a space to dream, a time to let empty. ”
