ROBERT ALTERMOSER
For many people, “Vienna by night” means parties, noise, music and excited crowds. This is also true, especially if you just move from club to club at the weekend. However, photographer Robert Altermoser set out in search of a different Vienna: “The idea behind these pictures is to find peace and quiet in urban spaces.” He discovered and captured them between 24:00 and 05:00 in the morning, searching for sources of light in the darkness.
The result shows Vienna clearly and reduced, far removed from stuffiness, party culture or run-down chic. With his photo series on Viennese concrete, Altermoser has already proven that he is not interested in cliché-laden motifs. Instead, he focuses on the essentials and shows Vienna from an unknown side.
