IN21

"The paintings of the series IN21 were created during the third (was it the third? It was early 2021, must have been the third) lockdown. Painted in Vienna, they are still strongly influenced by the time in late 2020 (the second lockdown), which I spent in Berlin.

Unlike other works from that time (especially the series Waiting for my plants to dry so I can water them again), however, the works are not concerned with the interior and the retreat into the private, but carry the desire to break out and the longing for freedom.

They do this in part through romanticizing depictions of outdoor space, in part through collage-like fusions of different pictorial elements. Space is created, spatiality is lost. I can no longer tell the difference between the two. But I don‘t even try."
