“Visitings” is about transitions and time. This stairwell was taken from the inside the “Funkhaus Wien,” which was once known as ORF 's broadcasting center, and is the oldest broadcasting building in Austria. Windows, doorways, and stairwells are a recurring symbol in Francesca’s works; as they represent the space in between. The one realm cannot exist without the other, which offers an expansive effect in a painting. The two places represented offer different perspectives perhaps. The translucent figure is standing in the middle of the stairwell - is it a ghost or a quickly moving figure? And this floating flower adds a surrealist element.
Made with colored pencil, acrylic paint and walnut ink on paper, Francesca brings a new genre of Surrealism into her oeuvre.

Francesca Rosati
Francesca Rosati is an Italian-American painter and arts educator currently based in Vienna, Austria. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she previously balanced her time between teaching visual arts full-time and maintaining a dedicated studio practice. Working primarily in oil, acrylic, collage, and textile, Francesca is deeply connected to her roots in Europe; her work often references its antiquity and nature. Recently, she has focused on capturing the habitual moments and the overlooked objects of daily life. Capturing fleeting interactions on public transportation and observing items such as matchboxes and butter wrappers - the act of depicting these subjects aims to encourage 'a slow down' to appreciate the small details of daily life. Francesca earned her BFA in Painting (2019) and her Master of Arts in Teaching (2020) from the Rhode Island School of Design. During her studies, she participated in RISD's European Honors Program (2018) in Rome, Italy. She was awarded the Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts by the Austrian American Foundation in 2022 and took part in the Awakenings at Wick Artist Residency the same year. Most recently, she was a resident artist at GlogauAIR in Berlin, participating in both the on-site and online programs from October 2024 to March 2025.
