"'Bosch' gets a perspective from inside the head! Which offers an unconventional way to incorporate the ‘self’ into still life. There is a selection of random objects brought together to reflect the elements of someone’s life - perhaps the artist’s? A jar of spring onions, a small book of ‘BOSCH,’ a letter opener, a plate, a yellow rubber band, several bottles and a container of deodorant - all sit atop a wooden chair. We view this composition through a neon salmon framework, which is shaped to mirror the features of the face - from the eye lashes enveloping the corners, followed by the cheekbones on the sides, and then the base curve which could be a nose or tongue.
This piece is painted with gouache, acrylic, and colored pencil on a wooden panel, which presents an opaque still life situated inside a saturated framework which is actually a portrait of the artist herself."

Francesca Rosati
Francesca Rosati is an Italian-American painter and arts educator currently based in Vienna, Austria. Originally from Seattle, Washington, she previously balanced her time between teaching visual arts full-time and maintaining a dedicated studio practice. Working primarily in oil, acrylic, collage, and textile, Francesca is deeply connected to her roots in Europe; her work often references its antiquity and nature. Recently, she has focused on capturing the habitual moments and the overlooked objects of daily life. Capturing fleeting interactions on public transportation and observing items such as matchboxes and butter wrappers - the act of depicting these subjects aims to encourage 'a slow down' to appreciate the small details of daily life. Francesca earned her BFA in Painting (2019) and her Master of Arts in Teaching (2020) from the Rhode Island School of Design. During her studies, she participated in RISD's European Honors Program (2018) in Rome, Italy. She was awarded the Seebacher Prize for Fine Arts by the Austrian American Foundation in 2022 and took part in the Awakenings at Wick Artist Residency the same year. Most recently, she was a resident artist at GlogauAIR in Berlin, participating in both the on-site and online programs from October 2024 to March 2025.
